• Automatically collected data. Like most websites, our servers automatically record basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, and we use cookies for essential site functionality and basic analytics.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Deliver our newsletter to subscribers.

• Verify business ownership and manage business listings.
• Publish events, deals, and directory listings you submit to us.

Automated processing of contact messages

When you submit a message through our contact form, we use an artificial-intelligence service (Anthropic’s Claude) to help triage your message — for example, to detect when a message is reporting a correction to an event so we can route it to the right place. Your message contents are processed for this purpose; they are not used to train third-party AI models.

Third-party services we share data with

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us operate the Site, and only as needed for them to perform their function:

• Beehiiv — delivers and manages our email newsletter.
• Convex — stores the Site’s data (such as listings, submissions, and messages) in our backend database.
• Resend — sends transactional emails, including business verification codes.
• Anthropic — processes contact-form messages to help us triage them (see above).
• Railway — hosts the Site’s infrastructure.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Upper Arlington Today, our users, or the public.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functionality and to understand how the Site is used so we can improve it. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may not work as intended if you do.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
